Three members of the Vindolanda Trust resigned following a row over the running of the Roman site. One of the three, the trust?s honorary solicitor, Harold Portnell, said that he was unhappy about the increasing commercialisation of the site, cheapening its character as an ancient monument. The others to resign were Brig. B. N. Archibald and his wife Daphne.
