Death of Nancy Ridley, one of Tynedale?s most famous daughters and a national authority on Northumberland, on Tuesday, 30th December 1986, at 17 Hencotes, Hexham. Born on 29/09/1911, she wrote five books: A Portrait of Northumberland (1965), Northumbrian Heritage (1968), A Northumbrian Remembers (1970), A Northumbrian at Large (1975) and Northumberland, Then and Now (1978). She was born at Lipwood Well, Haydon Bridge, an only child, who lived in the North East all her life. Compare HC 09/01/1987.
