A meeting of farmers and others from Otterburn, Elsdon and Rochester districts was held in the Otterburn Institute to consider the proposals of the North-Eastern Railway Company to establish a goods motor service between Newcastle and communities. A farmers? committee was formed to examine the proposals in more detail.
