Feature article on the ?33 million Haydon Bridge Bypass opened on 25th March: 26 months to build, using 5,780 cubic metres of concrete, 637 tonnes of steel for the bridges across the South Tyne and 27,000 tonnes of tarmac for the 1.8 mile long road.
