Elizabeth Little (n?e Storey), of Hott Bank near Haltwhistle, died at the age of 35. It was reported that 12 years previously, on 24th October 1867, she had fought against two burglars near Bardon Mill. When they were sentenced to eight years in prison, she was awarded ?5 by the judge for her bravery.
