BBC Newsnight uses our Simon Armitage photos without acknowledgement

When BBC Newsnight contacted this small volunteer-run local museum yesterday, 27 July 2010, saying they wanted to use some stills from our Simon Armitage video we were thrilled – national recognition at last! The poet had given a reading at the Heritage Centre on Saturday 10 July as part of his Pennine Way walk. We emailed them the photographs which were taken by Garret Studio (Yvonne Davies) on our behalf. We watched the programme eagerly last night and sure enough they used a couple of our photographs; one of them remained onscreen for many minutes. But when the credits rolled we were disappointed to see that there was no acknowledgement of photographer Yvonne Davies or the Heritage Centre.

According to Newsnight, by email: “... it’s quite hard for us to give a credit given our house style ...”

We say: “?!”
