PETROL AND CASH Tips
Don't travel on empty: there is a motor fuels stockist in Bellingham but it is closed in the evenings, on Saturday evening and all day Sunday. It's a long way to the next 'pumps'. Also, the single ATM or 'hole-in-the-wall' or cashpoint sometimes runs out on busy weekends/bank holidays. Stock up before you come and again, if you can, before you leave!
THE LAST SHEEP SALE DVD
At the end of January 2011 we had sold 1163 copies of the DVD since it was launched at Bellingham Show in 2009! The DVD covers the last sheep sale at Bellingham Mart which closed in October 2004. You can buy the DVD online here The Last Sheep Sale has received a very positive review in the latest issue of 'The Agricultural History Review' (Volume 58, Part 11, 2010).

The Railway carriages are coming, after months of hard work by our dedicated volunteers the carriages are nearly ready. The much needed tea room is taking shape, the carpets are going in to the exhibition space and David Walmsley, our education officer, is already planning how to use the new education area. So come along and meet the team,on March 17th, at the grand (celebrity, but we are not allowed to say who, just yet) opening.

Visit The Heritage Centre at Bellingham - the museum for the ruggedly beautiful and historic North Tyne and Redewater area of Northumberland, England. The Centre also houses the Bellingham Tourist Information Centre. The history of this ancient and fabled place is captured in five permanent displays covering farming (including a 'reconstruction' of the Stannersburn smithy or farriery), mining, the Border Counties Railway, the Border Reivers, and the photography of W P Collier. So, whether you are on holiday or taking a day out, or entertaining children, why not take time to enjoy ...

In addition, one of our volunteers, Ken Haynes, won a highly commended award for his contribution to Collections Care at the Heritage Centre. more-
