to the Heritage Centre, Bellingham
The
Heritage Centre preserves and displays the
heritage of the North Tyne and Redewater
area of Northumberland, England.
Relics
and photographs cover all aspects of local
history and tradition in the area. Special
exhibitions include:

The
Border Counties Railway 1862-1958
comprised 42 miles of track from Hexham
on the River Tyne to Riccarton, across
the Scottish border, and had a marked
impact on life in a previously remote
area. |

A
Mining Heritage
display features the relics and memories
of the coal mines, iron works and quarries
that were once busy industrial features
in what is now largely a peaceful rural
landscape. |

The
Photographs of W P Collier
show a definitive picture of rural life
in Northumberland between the two World
Wars. |
| |
The
Border Reivers display provides
a fascinating insight into the robbery
and violence that was rife in sixteenth
century Border life. |
Further reference material on many of the displays can be made available by prior arrangement.
Guided Tours
Guided tours of the Centre can be given for groups by prior arrangement
The
Heritage Centre plans many Events
for this summer and is developing the Museum's
display and research facilities.

to find us
Bellingham is on the edge of Northumberland
National Park, 18 miles north of Hexham,
8 miles from Kielder Water and 18 miles
from the Scottish border. The centre is
in the Old Station Yard on the Woodburn
Road, two hundred yards from the centre
of the village. There is ample free parking.
